Tough Day at the Office for the A's

! Unfortunately, our Oakland Athletics took a hard hit against the Kansas City Royals, ending the game with a disappointing 4-8 loss. Let’s break down what happened in this rollercoaster of a game. A Slow Start
The game started off on a quiet note for the A’s, with Abraham Toro, JJ Bleday, and Brent Rooker unable to get the bats going in the top of the 1st inning. The Royals, however, came out swinging, putting up two runs early thanks to hits from Maikel Garcia and Bobby Witt Jr.. Definitely a bit of a gut punch seeing our boys start behind.
The Struggle Continues
Throughout the next few innings, both teams' pitchers seemed to find their rhythm, with neither side able to significantly alter the scoreboard. Our A’s were scrapping, trying to make something happen, but luck and execution just weren’t on our side today. The Royals started to pull away in the bottom of the 6th, thanks to a triple from Vinnie Pasquantino that really opened the game up, putting the Royals ahead 7-1.
A Glimmer of Hope
Not to be completely outdone, the A’s showed some late game fight in the 9th inning. Rooker smashed a homer to left, bringing in Schuemann and Bleday for a total of 3 runs. This late surge brought us to the final score of 4-8. It was great to see some resilience from the squad, even if it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
