Tough Fight But Braves Fall Short

Hey Braves fans, we had quite the rollercoaster game against the Phillies today. Despite a valiant effort from our guys, especially in the latter innings, we came up just short with an 8-6 loss. Let's dive into the recap. 😔

Pitcher Duel Early On

In the top of the first inning, our pitching was solid. We managed to keep the Phillies scoreless despite a double from Alec Bohm. However, our bats were equally silent in the bottom of the first as Jarred Kelenic, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley all failed to get on base.

Philly Strikes First

The Phillies started to find their groove in the 4th inning. After some singles and a home run from Trea Turner, they took a 3-0 lead. But we weren't out of the fight yet! In the bottom of the 4th, Ozzie Albies singled, followed by a monstrous 414-foot homer by Austin Riley! The score tightened to 3-2.

Turner's Big Day Continues

Unfortunately, Turner wasn't done. In the 6th, he hit another homer, this time a 459-foot bomb to left-center, extending Philly's lead to 5-2. But not to be outdone, Ozzie Albies responded with a homer of his own in the bottom of the inning, making it 5-3.

7th Inning Woes

The 7th inning was tough to watch. A combination of errors and some timely hitting from the Phillies allowed them to extend their lead to 8-3. It was a hard pill to swallow, especially with errors playing a key role in that inning.

Never Say Die Attitude

As true Braves, we never gave up! In the bottom of the 8th, Marcell Ozuna delivered a clutch 409-foot homer to right-center, bringing home Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley. Suddenly, it was a two-run game at 8-6!

The Close But No Cigar 9th Inning

Heading into the bottom of the 9th, we all had hope, but Phillies closer Hoffman shut us down. Adam Duvall, Orlando Arcia, and Eli White couldn’t find a way to get on base, and the game ended with us on the losing end.

Final Thoughts

It was a rough game, but there were definitely highlights. Ozzie Albies had a fantastic game with a homer and some key singles. Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna's homers were electrifying moments that showcased our fighting spirit. We'll take this loss as a learning experience and come back stronger! 💪

Keep your heads up, Braves Country! We'll get them next time! 🧢⚾
