Tough Loss for the Phillies

After a rollercoaster of a game, our Phillies fell 7-4 to the Kansas City Royals. It was an evening full of ups and downs, and while we didn’t come out on top, there were some notable performances and moments.

Early Innings Struggles

The game didn’t start in our favor. Kyle Schwarber led off by lining out to center, followed by a strikeout by Trea Turner, and Bryce Harper flying out to right. Unfortunately, the Royals capitalized with a run in the bottom of the 1st as Vinnie Pasquantino reached on an infield single, setting up a crucial double by Salvador Perez to make it 1-0 Royals.

Big Hits in the 3rd Inning

Our boys showed some resilience in the top of the 3rd. J.T. Realmuto started things off with a double to left, and Brandon Marsh brought him home on an error. However, the Royals answered back quickly, scoring five runs in their half of the inning, highlighted by homers from Perez and Hunter Renfroe. It was a tough inning for us, pushing the score to 6-1 Royals.

Middle Innings Battle

We saw some action in the 4th inning when Bryce Harper doubled to right followed by Nick Castellanos grounding out but bringing Harper home. The inning ended at 6-2 in favor of the Royals. Though the Royals added another run in the 5th, making it 7-2, our bullpen stepped up with some key outs to keep the game within reach.

Late-Inning Rally Attempt

In the 8th, we mounted a mini comeback. Bryce Harper singled, and eventually scored on a wild pitch by Royals' pitcher Bubic, cutting the lead to 7-3. Then, Bryson Stott hit a sacrifice fly to bring Alec Bohm home, making it 7-4.

Ninth Inning Hopes Dashed

Heading into the 9th, hope was still alive. Brandon Marsh doubled, giving us a chance to stage a miraculous comeback. Unfortunately, Austin Hays and Kyle Schwarber flied out, and Trea Turner struck out looking to end the game.

Looking Forward

Not the result we wanted, but the fight our Phillies showed is always worth cheering for. Let’s take the positives and bounce back stronger in the next game! 💪⚾
