Tough Start for the Brew Crew 😕

The Brewers faced off against the Phillies at American Family Field, and the game didn't go as we had hoped. Things started quietly in the first inning with both teams failing to get on base.

Phillies Draw First Blood 💥

The second inning saw the Phillies' Nick Castellanos hitting a massive 430-foot home run to center, putting them up 1-0. Despite some aggressive base-running from Brandon Marsh, our defense managed to close out the inning without further damage.

Garrett Mitchell Shines ✨

In the bottom of the second inning, Garrett Mitchell singled to center and stole second, showing his speed. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize, with Willy Adames, Jake Bauers, and Rhys Hoskins all failing to bring him home.

Equalizer and Missed Opportunities âš¾

Garrett Mitchell continued his strong performance in the fourth inning, tripling to center and bringing home William Contreras to tie the game 1-1. However, we couldn't keep the momentum, with Adames striking out and Bauers lining out to right.

Harper's Heroics and Struggles in the 6th 😖

The Phillies pulled ahead again in the sixth inning. Kyle Schwarber reached on an infield single, and Bryce Harper followed up with a two-run homer to center, making it 3-1. The Phillies added another run in the seventh when Schwarber reached on an infield single, scoring Edmundo Sosa.

Late Game Woes 😔

We struggled to get on base in the later innings. In the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, our batters couldn't break through the Phillies' pitching. Rhys Hoskins and Isaac Collins made some contact, but it wasn't enough to spark a rally.

Final Inning - Falling Short 😞

The ninth inning saw Johan Rojas score another run for the Phillies after a single from Trea Turner, extending their lead to 5-1. Julio Teheran was unable to get us back in the game, with Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, and Garrett Mitchell all getting out.

Final Thoughts 💭

The final score, 5-1, does not reflect the effort put in by the Brew Crew, especially by Garrett Mitchell. We'll need to regroup and focus on our upcoming games to make up for this tough loss. Let's go, Brewers! 🃓
