Ouch, That Hurt! Mariners Routed Our Phillies 😢

Fellow Phillies fans, this was a tough one to watch. Our beloved Phillies got clobbered by the Mariners with a final score of 10-2. Let’s break down the gameplay.

Slow Start for Our Bats ⚾

Things got off to a rough start with the top of the 1st inning. Kyle Schwarber managed a single, but Trea Turner lined out, Bryce Harper struck out swinging, and Alec Bohm grounded out. The Mariners quickly took the lead with a solo homer by Robles in the bottom half. Mariners 1, Phillies 0.

Second Inning Tornado 🌪️

The second inning was a disaster! We couldn’t get much going except for a double by Nick Castellanos. The Mariners, however, let loose with back-to-back homers. A 3-run homer by Raley and a grand slam by Turner put us in a deep hole at 8-0. It was a rough inning to watch.

Struggles Continue 😔

From the 3rd to the 6th innings, our batting lineup couldn’t find solid footing. Bryce Harper struck out once again, our hits were sparse, and none of our guys managed to get past second base. Meanwhile, the Mariners added another run in the 4th to extend the lead to 9-0.

Little Spark but No Fire 🌟

Finally, in the 7th inning, Alec Bohm singled to center, but two subsequent outs dashed our hopes. The Mariners rubbed more salt in the wound with a solo homer by Haniger in the bottom of the 7th, making it 10-0.

Too Little, Too Late 😬

In the top of the 9th, Alec Bohm doubled to center, followed by Brandon Marsh's triple bringing him home. J.T. Realmuto walked, and Weston Wilson singled to center, getting us to 2 runs. But alas, Bryson Stott and Kyle Schwarber couldn't bring in any more.

Final Thoughts 💭

This is one of those games we’ll want to forget quickly. Our pitching couldn’t hold back the Mariners, and our offense struggled significantly until the very end. We’ll dust ourselves off and come back stronger. As always, Go Phillies! ❤️💙
