Tough Day in Cincinnati for the Pirates 😔

Our beloved Pirates faced off against the Reds and, unfortunately, it wasn't our night. The Reds came out strong with a final score of 1-7. Here's a quick recap of the game.

Early Innings: Missed Opportunities

Our top of the 1st and 2nd innings saw some potential but no scoring. Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Bryan Reynolds made contact but couldn't get things going. Shoutout to Oneil Cruz for a single in the 1st inning, though.

On the mound, our pitchers held their ground early on. Elly De La Cruz from the Reds got a double in the 3rd inning, and Tyler Stephenson brought him home with a single. Ty France then hit a homer to score two more runs, making it 0-3 by the end of the 3rd inning.

Mid-Game Setbacks

From there, things didn't get much better. Despite Nick Gonzales reaching first on a fielding error in the 4th inning and another single from Yasmani Grandal, we couldn't capitalize.

The Reds added three more runs in the bottom of the 4th with De La Cruz hitting a homer, and Jake Fraley scoring off of singles from Noelvi Marte and Will Benson. The score was 0-6 by the end of the 5th inning.

Late Innings: A Glimpse of Hope

In the 7th inning, Billy Cook showed some fight with a single, but the Reds' defense was relentless. Their pitching staff kept our bats quiet until the 9th inning.

Finally, in the top of the 9th, Billy Cook hit a massive homer to left-center, giving us our only run. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late.

Final Thoughts

While it’s never easy to see our team lose, there's always another game. Let's keep our heads up and look forward to better days. Here's to hoping the Pirates bounce back stronger in the next game! 🏴‍☠️

Let's go Bucs! 💪
