A Tough Day at Coors Field

Well, Rockies fans, this was a tough one to swallow as we fell to the Pirates 8-2. The game started off on a hopeful note, but those hopes quickly faded as the Pirates capitalized on their opportunities. Let's dive into the details.

Promising Start Quickly Fizzles

In the 1st inning, both teams started off without much action. Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar were unable to get things going for us, but a single from Ryan McMahon offered a shimmer of optimism. Unfortunately, Jacob Stallings struck out to end the inning. The 2nd inning saw the Pirates take a 1-0 lead after Jared Triolo doubled and later scored on an RBI single by Jack Suwinski.

Pitching Struggles & Pirates’ Big 6th Inning

Our pitching held up until the 6th inning when things really got away from us. Nick Gonzales and Oneil Cruz got back-to-back singles, setting the stage for Triolo and Suwinski to drive in runs. The big blow came from Jason Delay with a 3-RBI double, pushing the Pirates' lead to 6-0. A tough inning indeed.

Small Offensive Highlights

The 7th inning saw a glimmer of hope as Jacob Stallings doubled and was later driven in by Jake Cave, making the score 8-1. In the 9th, Stallings scored again on a single by Nolan Jones, making it 8-2. Although we showed a little fight, it was too little, too late.

Looking Ahead

It was a tough loss, Rockies fans, but we have to keep our heads up. Let's put this one behind us and look forward to bouncing back in the next game. We’ve seen resilience from our boys before, and we'll see it again! Go Rockies! 🏔️⚾
