Hey Cubs fans! Let's dive into our recent matchup against the Padres. Although the scoreboard didn't end in our favor today, there's always something to learn and appreciate from the game, even when our beloved Cubbies fall short.

A Quiet Night for Our Offense​

We had some promising moments, right out of the gate, with Nico Hoerner singling to center in the 1st inning and Dansby Swanson making it to second base on a wild pitch in the 3rd inning. However, the Padres pitching staff was relentless, keeping our bats eerily quiet. Seiya Suzuki gave us hope with a double in the 4th, but we were unable to capitalize. Not for lack of effort, but the hits just wouldn't land for us tonight.

Padres' Big Moment​

The game truly pivoted during the 5th inning when Manny Machado hit a 404-foot homer to left, bringing in Fernando Tatis Jr. following his walk. That was a tough blow! The Padres extended their lead to 3-0 and kept us on the ropes for the rest of the night. It's frustrating, but credit where it's due—their offense clicked when needed.

Our Pitching Held Strong​

On a brighter note, our pitching did put in a commendable performance. Besides that 5th inning hiccup, Kittredge, Imanaga, Thielbar, Rea, and Rogers showed their grit by keeping the Padres at bay with some excellent spells on the mound. The bullpen displayed resilience, which is something we can definitely build on going forward.

Though we couldn't post a 'W' today, let's keep rallying behind our Cubbies and hope for a better outcome in the next game. Always proud to be a Cubs fan! Let's get ready for the next one! ️
