Padres Triumph Over Phillies: 5-2! 🏆

What a game, Padres fans! We took on the Phillies with determination and came out on top with a 5-2 victory. 💪 Let's break down the key moments.

Early Lead Thanks to Merrill

In the top of the 2nd inning, with two outs, Jackson Merrill gave us the lead with a monster homer to right-center field! That shot traveled 401 feet and put us up 1-0. Way to get us on the board, Merrill! 🌟

Keeping It Tight Through the Middle Innings

The Phillies tied it up in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a homer from Bryce Harper. After that, it was a tense fight with both teams holding each other off. Our defense kept us strong, and Blake Snell was dealing.

Taking the Lead in the 7th

The game was neck and neck until the 7th inning when Luis Arraez singled to right, driving in Jackson Merrill and putting us ahead 2-1. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado kept the momentum going, but we left two more runners on base.

Big Insurance Runs in the 8th

We broke it open in the top of the 8th inning. After an error and some clutch hitting, Kyle Higashioka sent a triple to right, clearing the bases and bringing home Jose Azocar, Manny Machado, and Ha-Seong Kim. That made it 5-1, giving us a comfortable lead. Higgy was huge! 🎉

Harper Homers Again but Padres Close It Out

Harper tried to bring the Phillies back with a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th inning, but our bullpen held solid. Robert Suarez came in and shut it down in the 9th, striking out Brandon Marsh and getting the final outs.

Padres Win!

Final score: Padres 5, Phillies 2! A much-needed win and a great team effort. Next up, let's keep this momentum rolling. Go Padres! 🛡️⚾
