An Early Struggle for Both Teams

The game started off with both teams struggling to get any runs on the board. The Giants couldn’t get on base in the 1st inning as Grant McCray, Heliot Ramos, and Matt Chapman were all retired in quick succession. The Padres didn’t fare much better with Luis Arraez and Fernando Tatis Jr. both getting out, although Jurickson Profar did manage a single before Manny Machado ended the inning by grounding into a fielder's choice.

The Fourth-Inning Explosion for the Giants 💥

The scoreboard remained at zero until the top of the 4th inning when the Giants' bats came to life. Matt Chapman launched a two-run homer (419 feet) scoring Heliot Ramos. This was followed by a cascade of hits: Michael Conforto singled, Tyler Fitzgerald singled, and then Jerar Encarnación belted a 3-run homer (416 feet) driving in Conforto and Fitzgerald. Luis Matos wasn’t left out, delivering a solo homer (370 feet). By the end of the inning, the Giants led 6-0.

Padres Attempt a Comeback 🚀

The Padres started showing some life in the 5th inning with Jackson Merrill hitting a solo homer (376 feet), reducing the deficit to 6-1. Even though they managed to load the bases, they couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity as Fernando Tatis Jr. grounded into a double play.

Giants Add Insurance, Padres Respond

In the 6th inning, Curt Casali increased the Giants' lead to 7-1 with a solo homer (403 feet). The Padres, however, weren’t giving up. In the bottom of the 7th, thanks to some errors and wild pitches, they managed to score three runs, making it 7-4.

A Nail-Biting 8th Inning 😬

The 8th inning was intense as Xander Bogaerts launched a 2-run homer (396 feet) bringing the Padres within one run (7-6). The Giants then brought in Walker, who managed to pick off Tyler Wade at first and ended the inning by getting Donovan Solano out, keeping the fragile lead intact.

Closing the Deal 🏁

In the 9th inning, Scott took over pitching for the Padres and kept the Giants scoreless. It all came down to the bottom of the 9th, and Camilo Doval came in to close it out. He expertly retired Luis Arraez, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Jurickson Profar, sealing the 7-6 win for the Giants!

This nail-biter had us all on the edge of our seats, but the Giants held on to a fantastic win. Let's keep this momentum going! Go Giants! 🎉⚾
