Heartbreak at Busch Stadium

💔 Giants fans, it's a tough one to swallow as our beloved team dropped a nail-biter 3-2 in St. Louis. We controlled the game, but the Cardinals had the last word. Let's break down what happened in tonight's match-up.

Strong Outing Ends in Disappointment

For the majority of the game, the Giants played with confidence and capitalized early. In the 4th inning, a sacrifice fly from Casey Schmitt brought Dominic Smith home, putting us on the board. Shortly after, a crucial double from Drew Gilbert batted in Matt Chapman, giving us a 2-0 lead and control of the game. Our pitchers were phenomenal, keeping the Cardinals hitless through six innings! Joey Lucchesi and the bullpen did an outstanding job keeping us ahead in the game.

9th Inning Drama

Unfortunately, the game slipped in the bottom of the 9th. After managing pressure situations earlier, our bullpen struggled to hold on. Nolan Gorman led off with a single, sparking the Cardinals' rally. With the bases loaded and only one out, a single by Thomas Saggese was followed by a decisive double from Jordan Walker, sealing the comeback.

On to the Next One

Despite the loss, shoutout to Jung Hoo Lee for contributing offensively with consistent hits and Matt Chapman for showing grit at the plate. Let's keep our heads up and look forward to the next game. More opportunities to bring that W back to San Francisco await! 🧡⚾

Go Giants! 🍊⚾
