Tough Loss, But the Fight Was There

The Seattle Mariners faced the Baltimore Orioles in what hopes to be an electric game, but alas, we fell 3-6. It was one of those days where our bats just couldn't catch up, and the Orioles took advantage of every slip we made. 😓

First Inning – A Slow Start

Right off the bat (pun intended), we had Josh Rojas, Julio Rodriguez, and Cal Raleigh all striking out swinging. Not the start we were hoping for. Meanwhile, the Orioles got on the board quickly with Gunnar Henderson hitting a massive homer and Colton Cowser adding another run, making it 2-0 for the Orioles. Definitely not the opening act our Mariners wanted. 😞

Mariners Show Glimmers of Hope

The second inning showed some promise when Luke Raley doubled and later scored thanks to a single from Luis Urias, closing the gap a little. Yet, the Orioles didn’t let up, adding another run in the bottom making it 3-1. The third inning wasn’t much better, with the Orioles extending their lead to 5-1, despite our best efforts. 🙁

Trying to Claw Back

As the game progressed, our Mariners showed some of their fighting spirit. In the 7th, Urias doubled, bringing in Dylan Moore for a score. Julio Rodriguez kept the hope alive with a single that scored Urias, pushing our tally to 3. Sure, we were still trailing, but it felt like a moment where maybe, just maybe, we could turn things around. 💪

Not Enough in the Tank

Unfortunately, despite a spirited effort, the Orioles managed to maintain their lead, even adding another run in the 8th inning, bringing the final score to 6-3. The 9th inning was our last chance to bring it back. With Craig Kimbrel on the mound for the Orioles, Mitch Garver came in as a pinch hitter for Seby Zavala, hoping to ignite a late rally. Sadly, Garver, alongside Moore and Urias, couldn't crack Kimbrel, ending the game with a Mariners loss. 😔

Final Thoughts

It’s a tough loss for the Mariners, especially against an Orioles team that just seemed to have our number today. There were moments of brilliance, but not enough to overcome the early deficit. While this game didn’t go our way, there’s always the next game to look forward to. Mariners fans know that our team has resilience and the talent to bounce back. Let’s regroup and bring the heat next time! Go Mariners! ⚾💙
