Mariners Fall Short Against Dodgers

Tough night for us Mariners fans 😢 as we went head-to-head with the Los Angeles Dodgers but ultimately came up short with a final score of 4-8.

Early Promise and Quick Lead

We got off to a strong start in the top of the 2nd inning with Randy Arozarena getting hit by a pitch and later scoring thanks to a sacrifice fly by Dominic Canzone. Justin Turner also had a solid single to center during this inning. It felt great to see our boys taking an early 1-0 lead!

Defensive Struggles and Dodgers' Rally

The tide started turning in the bottom of the 3rd when, after a fielding error by Leo Rivas, the Dodgers brought in two runs with a clutch double by Mookie Betts. Despite our pitchers’ efforts, the Dodgers' bats came alive, and they kept adding to the score. By the end of the 5th inning, the Dodgers had stormed ahead 8-1, with big hits from Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, and Max Muncy.

Mariners Show Fight in Late Innings

We saw a bit of a comeback in the 6th inning as Dylan Moore drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing in Cal Raleigh to make it 8-2.

In the 8th inning, Randy Arozarena and Jorge Polanco set the table nicely with singles, and Canzone's fielder's choice allowed Arozarena to score, trimming the deficit to 8-3.

A Late Spark from Mitch Haniger

In the top of the 9th, pinch-hitter Mitch Haniger gave us some hope with a huge solo homer to center, cutting the lead to 8-4. Unfortunately, that was as close as we got, as the inning ended with Julio Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, and Randy Arozarena unable to extend the rally.

Final Thoughts

We had our moments but couldn’t quite overcome the Dodgers' offensive onslaught. Let’s keep our heads up, Mariners fans! Tomorrow is another day, and another chance to bounce back. Let’s go M’s! 💙⚾
