Mariners Start Strong in the 1st Inning

The game began on a high note for us Mariners fans with J.P. Crawford singling to center. That was quickly followed by Julio Rodríguez's double to left, putting Crawford on third. Cal Raleigh then smacked a double to center, driving both runners home and giving us a quick 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, Randy Arozarena, Luke Raley, and Jorge Polanco struck out consecutively to end the inning.

Athletics Answer Back in the Bottom of the 1st

The Athletics' Lawrence Butler didn't waste any time, hitting a solo homer that flew 408 feet to center. Following that, Brent Rooker singled to center, but our pitcher held firm, with JJ Bleday flying out, Shea Langeliers striking out, and Seth Brown flying out to end the inning with the score at 2-1.

Slow Progressions in Middle Innings

Both teams settled into a rhythm. The Mariners couldn't muster more runs through the 5th inning, despite a couple of hits and a walk. Similarly, the Athletics were held at bay by our pitching staff, though Seth Brown did manage to tie the game in the bottom of the 4th with a solo homer to center.

Continued Stalemate Through the 6th to 8th Innings

Our offense stalled through the 6th to 8th innings. Polanco drew a walk in the 7th but was left stranded. The Athletics were equally stifled; relievers from both sides were doing great. A glimmer of hope arose in the top of the 9th when Randy Arozarena walked, but alas, he was caught stealing.

Heartbreaking Bottom of the 9th Inning

Paul Sewald came in to relieve and struck out Brent Rooker to get things started. However, JJ Bleday walked, and Shea Langeliers singled to left. Then it happened; Seth Brown singled to center, bringing Bleday home for the winning run. 😞

Final Thoughts

Despite the early lead, our bats went cold, and the Athletics took advantage when it mattered. It was a tough 3-2 loss, but let's keep believing! Go Mariners! 💙⚾
