Notably, Gallen and Mikolas pitched masterpieces, making hitters look lost at the plate. The early innings flew by with strikeouts and groundouts galore as batters struggled to make solid contact. Then came the magical bottom of the fifth!
It's like our bats just woke up and decided it was time to pounce. Christian Walker started us off with a single, which was just the spark we needed. Joc Pederson's double got Walker to third, and Jace Peterson's sacrifice fly brought him home, breaking the deadlock. But we weren't done there. Jake McCarthy doubled to bring Pederson home, cranking our lead up to 2.The rally didn't stop with Blaze Alexander grounding out, as it moved McCarthy to third. After Tucker Barnhart's walk and Ketel Marte working another walk, Corbin Carroll singled to right, driving in two more runs. Our lead increased to 4-0, and after a wild pitch, Marte hustled home, making it 5-0. That inning was electric, and the forum was buzzing!
Pitchers Closing the Door
Our bullpen was just impenetrable. Joe Mantiply and JJarvis did their part, throwing zeroes and keeping the Cardinals at bay. Every Cardinal that stepped up to the plate found themselves walking back to the dugout, shaking their heads.Completing the shutout, Jarvis stepped up in the ninth, sending Arenado, Contreras, and Nootbaar back to the dugout with ease.
