Rockies Fall to Cardinals Despite Early Lead

The Colorado Rockies took on the St. Louis Cardinals and, unfortunately, came up short with a final score of 7-3. Let's dive into the game's highlights.

Strong Start for Both Teams

The Rockies started off the game on an aggressive note, with Charlie Blackmon getting hit by a pitch in the bottom of the first inning. However, the offense couldn’t capitalize on it, and the first inning ended with the score tied at 0-0. Our pitching staff kept the Cardinals in check through the first two innings.

Fireworks in the 3rd and 5th Inning

The Cardinals broke the ice in the top of the third inning with Masyn Winn hitting a two-run homer to left. But the Rockies responded in the bottom of the third, with Aaron Schunk hitting a solo homer to make it 2-1.

The bottom of the fifth was really exciting for us fans! Sam Hilliard's double followed by Jacob Stallings walking set up the stage. Aaron Schunk reached on an infield single, scoring Hilliard. Then Charlie Blackmon tripled to center, bringing Schunk home. Our Rockies took the lead 3-2! 🎉

Cardinals Rally in the 7th and 8th Innings

The 7th inning saw a shift in momentum. Lars Nootbaar walked and later scored to tie the game 3-3. The 8th inning was tough for us; Nolan Arenado singled and eventually scored, followed by a series of hits that expanded the Cardinals' lead to 7-3.

Struggles in the 8th and 9th Innings

The Rockies had a chance to stage a comeback in the eighth. Charlie Blackmon doubled and Ezequiel Tovar singled, but we couldn't bring them home. In the 9th, Jacob Stallings doubled, but again, the rally fell short.

Final Thoughts

Despite some great moments, particularly from Charlie Blackmon and Aaron Schunk, the Rockies fell to the Cardinals 7-3. We saw some promising signs from our lineup, but we couldn't maintain the momentum. Let's hope for a rebound in the next game. Go Rockies! 💪🖤
