Early Promise Turns to Heartbreak
What a rollercoaster, folks!
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead that had us all dreaming of victory, only for our hopes to crumble in the later innings. Starting strong, Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman both sent homers flying, setting a tone of dominance that quickly got the blood pumping. That first inning had us up by two, and by the third, we nudged further ahead thanks to Nolan Arenado's savvy hitting. Our Cardinals looked in control, showcasing that early-game aggression we love to see. 
The Astros' Resilience
But then, the Astros began chipping away at our lead. Yordan Alvarez, notably known for his thunderous bat, didn't disappoint the home crowd with a two-run homer in the third. The tension was palpable. Despite a valiant effort from our pitching staff, Houston's lineup found ways to capitalize on every mistake. And by the eighth inning, they seized the lead through a couple of home runs from Alex Bregman and Yainer Diaz, turning our hopeful chants into muffled sighs.A Frustrating Conclusion
Heading into the ninth, trailing by three, the tension was thick. The Astros brought in Josh Hader, a closer known for shutting the door on comebacks, and shut it he did. Jose Fermin stepped in for Michael Siani, hoping to spark a rally, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. The final act mirrored much of the game—brief flurries of hope swiftly extinguished by the stern reality of baseball's unforgiving nature. With Masyn Winn and Burleson also succumbing to Hader, our tale ended not with a bang, but with a somber trudge off the field.In the end, Astros 7, Cardinals 4. A game that started with so much promise slipped through our fingers, leaving us to wonder "what if?" But as any true fan knows, hope springs eternal, and there's always the next game.
