Cardinals Secure a Thrilling 7-4 Victory Over the Brewers in Extra Innings

What a rollercoaster of a game, Cardinals fans! 🌟 Our boys clinched a dramatic 7-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in a nail-biting extra-innings showdown.

Early Lead for the Cardinals

We got off to a hot start in the first inning. Masyn Winn set the tone with a double to left field. Alec Burleson moved him over to third with a fly out, and then Nolan Arenado brought him home with a sacrifice fly. Brendan Donovan followed up with a double, and Paul Goldschmidt knocked him in with another double, giving us an early 2-0 lead. 🎉

Brewers Claw Back

The Brewers hit back in the bottom of the 3rd. Joey Ortiz and Jackson Chourio both homered, leveling the score at 2-2. In the 5th inning, a fielding error allowed Chourio to score, moving the Brewers ahead 3-2. 😬

Goldschmidt to the Rescue

But our MVP Paul Goldschmidt wouldn’t let the Brewers stay ahead for long. In the top of the 4th, he smashed a solo homer, bringing us back to a 3-3 tie. Later, in the 11th, it was his RBI single that drove in Arenado, pushing us up to 4-3.

Extra-Inning Drama

Both teams remained deadlocked until extra innings. In the 12th, Michael Siani drove in two runs with a clutch single, and then Alec Burleson added another run with a sacrifice fly. The Brewers could only managed one run in the bottom of the 11th, and Ryan Helsley sealed the victory by striking out the side in the 12th.

Outstanding Pitching Efforts

Props to our pitchers who kept us in the game! Steven Matz and the bullpen (including Helsley, Liberatore, and Romero) did a phenomenal job, striking out key batters in crucial moments. 💪

Looking Forward

This win puts us in a great position moving forward. Let’s keep this momentum going, Redbirds! Next up, let’s take another win from the Brewers and keep climbing up the standings! Go Cardinals! 🔴⚾👊
