The top of the 2nd inning was where the magic started. After a quiet first inning, the Cards' bats came to life with Burleson launching a 412 feet homer to right center, bringing in Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt for a quick 3-0 lead.

Martinez doubled to bring Francisco Lindor home, making it 4-2.Despite the Mets' attempts to rally back, the Cardinals' pitching was too much for them. Helsley came in for the 9th, slamming the door shut on the Mets with his striking out the side, sealing the 4-2 victory for the Cardinals.
