Tigers Rally Late to Defeat the Rays 4-3

Hey Tigers fans! 😺 What a fun game that was! Our boys showed heart and hustle to come back and snag a 4-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays!

Early Struggles

The game started off slow for us, with Andy Ibáñez, Wenceel Perez, and Riley Greene going down quickly in the first inning. This trend continued into the second inning when Matt Vierling, Colt Keith, and Spencer Torkelson couldn't find a hit. The Rays took advantage of this, with Brandon Lowe driving in two runs in the top of the 3rd. By the 5th inning, the Rays led 3-0 following a wild pitch by Mize.

Chipping Away

Our bats finally started to show signs of life in the bottom of the 6th. Matt Vierling drew a walk and Colt Keith tripled to right to bring in our first run of the game. Then, Kerry Carpenter, pinch-hitting for Torkelson, singled to right, driving in Keith and cutting the Rays' lead to one run. The game was now 3-2.

Big Comeback in the 8th

The tension was high in the 8th inning. Riley Greene singled to right and later advanced to second on a wild pitch. Matt Vierling walked, setting the stage for Colt Keith again. Keith came through with another clutch single to center, driving in Greene and tying the game at 3-3! Then, Justyn-Henry Malloy, pinch-hitting for Carpenter, hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Vierling to score and give us the lead! We ended the 8th inning up 4-3.

Closing It Out

The 9th inning was a nail-biter, but Jason Foley came in to close it out. Dylan Carlson flied out, Josh Lowe struck out swinging, and Jose Siri also struck out swinging, sealing the win for the Tigers!

Shout out to Colt Keith for his key hits and to Jason Foley for shutting things down in the 9th. Great team effort, Tigers! Let's keep this momentum going! 🐯🧡⚾

Go Tigers! 🎉
