Rangers' Tough Night in Boston ​

It was a tough evening for our Texas Rangers as we faced the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The game ended with a 4-9 loss, and while there were some bright moments, the Red Sox managed to maintain control throughout most of the game.

Slow Start for Both Teams​

Both teams had a slow start, with the first inning yielding no runs for the Rangers. Marcus Semien lined out to center, Corey Seager grounded out to shortstop, and Josh Smith popped out to third. The Red Sox took an early lead in the bottom of the first with Rafael Devers doubling to left, bringing in Masataka Yoshida for the first run.

Pitching Kept it Close​

Our pitching held strong through the early innings. Abreu, Smith, and Sogard couldn’t break through in the second, and we continued to hold the Red Sox at 1-0. However, the middle innings started to show cracks as we couldn't get on base. By the fifth inning, the floodgates opened: the Red Sox scored five more runs, including a three-run homer by Connor Wong.

Rangers Rally in the 6th Inning ​

Our moment came in the top of the 6th inning. Carson Kelly singled, Leody Taveras singled, and Marcus Semien doubled, bringing in our first run. Josh Smith brought Taveras home, followed by a walk for Adolis García, pushing in Semien. Nathaniel Lowe's walk brought Seager home, adding three more runs. Suddenly, we were back in the game, trailing only 6-4.

Red Sox Finish Strong ​

Despite the rally, the Red Sox pulled away again in the bottom of the 8th inning. Sogard's right-field single brought in two more runs, followed by a clever double play that allowed Smith to score. The final scoreline sat at 9-4 in favor of the Red Sox.

Looking Ahead ​

While this game didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take forward. Our guys fought hard, particularly during that energetic 6th inning. Next game, we’ll regroup and reclaim the wins!
