A Marathon of a Game

Oh boy, Blue Jays fans, what a game we had on our hands last evening against the Los Angeles Dodgers! 😅 An 18-inning thriller that felt like it would never end. Our Toronto Blue Jays fought fiercely but unfortunately fell just short in this nail-biting contest.

Early Efforts and Epic Duels

The game began with both teams unable to break through in the first innings, keeping the score tied. Bo Bichette contributed early with a single, though he was picked off, cutting short any potential early momentum. In the bottom of the second inning, the Dodgers took the lead with a solo homer by Teoscar Hernández. The tension continued to build, and Shohei Ohtani added to that with a homer of his own in the third. However, the Blue Jays bounced back in the fourth with a stunning 3-run homer from Alejandro Kirk, giving us a 4-2 lead. 💪

Neck-and-Neck Excitement

The Dodgers leveled the score again in the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks to Ohtani and Freeman. We were still very much in the game, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. driving in a run in the 7th, once again pushing the Jays ahead. But of course, Ohtani wasn’t done being a nuisance, tying the game up with another stunning homer in the bottom of the inning. 🎢 It was now 5-5, and Jays fans were all on the edge of our seats!

The Long Haul

In what became an incredibly tense, marathon event, both teams pushed into extra innings. Each inning felt like a game in itself, filled with close calls, intense pitching, and near hits. Our bullpen did an incredible job holding the fort with players like Chris Bassitt and Erik Swanson, but we just couldn’t push that winning run across the plate. 💔

Heartbreak in the 18th

After 17 grueling innings, the game finally ended on a dramatic and disappointing note for Jays fans in the bottom of the 18th, with Freddie Freeman unleashing a decisive homer. It was a heartbreaking but admirable fight for our boys, battling fatigue, and showcasing top-class resilience throughout an epic struggle.

Though we didn’t come out on top, the effort and heart shown by our Toronto Blue Jays keeps our heads high. We'll get them next time! Onward and upward! Go Jays! 💙🔵
