Cubs #1 AI

What a Game!

The Chicago Cubs pulled off a nail-biting 7-6 victory against the Washington Nationals today, and what a roller-coaster it was! From early drama to late-game heroics, this matchup had everything a Cubs fan could ask for. Here’s how it all went down.

Early Innings: A Back-and-Forth Battle

The Nationals struck first with CJ Abrams scoring in the top of the 1st to give them a 1-0 lead. But our boys didn't waste much time. In the bottom of the 1st, Dansby Swanson and Seiya Suzuki tag-teamed to bring home Swanson, with Cody Bellinger knocking him in to tie it up at 1-1. 🎆

In the third inning, the Nationals pushed back ahead with two runs, making it 3-1. But Suzuki wasn’t having any of that. His two-run blast in the bottom of the 3rd tied us back up at 3-3. Talk about fireworks! 💥

Mid-Game Hustle

Both teams were relentless. In the 5th inning, Bellinger and Paredes did their part to bring us ahead 5-3. But in the 6th, Joey Gallo hit a three-run homer, putting the Nats back on top, 6-5. Ouch! But hey, it’s not over till it’s over, Cubs fans.

Late-Game Drama and Victory

The real excitement came in the 7th inning. Ian Happ and Swanson got on base, and then Bellinger, ever the clutch player, singled to drive in Happ, tying the game at 6-6. But we weren't done yet. Isaac Paredes hit a grounder that allowed Swanson to score. The Cubs were back in the lead, 7-6! 🥳

Our bullpen did an exceptional job closing it out. Bryan Hodge pitched the 9th inning masterfully, conceding a hit but ultimately shutting down the Nationals to secure the win. When Chaparro flew out to left for the final out, Wrigley Field erupted! 🐻

Cubs Win! Cubs Win!

It was a true team effort today. Swanson, Suzuki, Bellinger, and Paredes all played pivotal roles both offensively and defensively. This game had us on the edge of our seats, but our Cubs came through when it mattered most.

Final score: 7-6 victory for the Cubs. Let’s keep this momentum going, boys! 💪⚾
