Tough Loss for the Nats in Detroit

Fellow Nationals fans, last night's game against the Tigers was a rough one. 😓 The Detroit Tigers took the win with a final score of 2-7. Let’s break down how it all went down.

Early Innings: Pitcher's Duel

Both teams started off strong defensively. In the first inning, our bats were quiet with CJ Abrams, Lane Thomas, and Jesse Winker all being retired in order. Joey Meneses managed a double in the second inning, but we couldn't capitalize on it. On the defensive side, Patrick Corbin held the Tigers scoreless through the first two innings, even escaping a bases-loaded jam in the second.

Third to Fifth Innings: Trading Blows

The game saw some action in the middle innings. We managed to tie it up at 1-1 in the fourth inning when Joey Meneses scored on a sacrifice fly by Ildemaro Vargas. However, the Tigers took the lead right back in the bottom of the third with a single by Mark Canha scoring Ryan Kreidler.

Sixth Inning: Law Relieves Corbin

In the bottom of the sixth, Riley Greene flied out but Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a solo homer to put the Tigers up 2-1. Our response? Joey Meneses doubled again in the top of the seventh and later scored on another sac fly by Ildemaro Vargas. The game was tied again, 2-2.

Seventh Inning: Tigers Pull Away

Here's where things went south. Kreidler and Vierling both singled to start the seventh. A double by Andy Ibanez scored Kreidler, and a sac fly by Canha scored Vierling to make it 4-2. The Tigers then scored three more runs with Urshela, Greene, and Malloy all contributing. We found ourselves in a 2-7 hole.

Final Innings: Couldn't Climb Back

Props to Abrams for drawing a walk in the eighth, but our lineup fell short. Trey Lipscomb, pinch-hitting for Rosario, struck out to start the ninth. Meneses and Luis García Jr. both struck out swinging against Andrew Chafin to end the game.

This was a tough one, but let’s not lose hope, Nats fans! We've shown resilience before, and we’ll bounce back. Stay positive and keep cheering on the team! #GoNats! 🔴⚾
