Brewers Come Out Swinging Early

Hey Brewers fans! 🎉 Although we didn't get the win, there were some exciting moments in the game against the Washington Nationals. Right out of the gate, Jackson Chourio doubled to left field, followed by Joey Ortiz walking. Then, Willy Adames and William Contreras both struck out swinging 😞. But not all was lost! Rhys Hoskins stepped up big time, hitting a double to left that scored both Chourio and Ortiz. Sal Frelick and Andruw Monasterio kept the momentum going, and by the end of the first inning, we were up 5-0! 💪

Nationals Begin Their Comeback

Things started to shift in the top of the 4th inning when the Nationals began to claw their way back into the game. Juan Yepez and James Wood both got on base, setting the stage for some quick offense. Although we still held a 5-3 lead at the end of the inning, the game started to feel much tighter. 😬 Jacob Junis came in to relieve Dallas Keuchel, stopping further damage for the moment, but the writing was on the wall.

Nationals' Decisive Hits in the 9th Inning

In the top of the 7th inning, pinch-hitter Luis Garcia Jr. smacked a home run to make it 5-4. Fast forward to the 9th inning, with Luis Garcia Jr. once again delivering—this time with a single. CJ Abrams then crushed a homer to right-center, giving the Nationals a 6-5 lead. 😭 Although Jake Bauers tried to ignite some 9th inning magic with a walk, it wasn't enough to overcome the Nationals' rally.

Missed Opportunities

We had our chances to stretch the lead and secure the game, but the bats went cold after the first inning. The Brewers didn't score another run after the 1st inning, with multiple scoring opportunities wasted. Andruw Monasterio reached base multiple times and made some great plays, but it wasn't enough. William Contreras, Willy Adames, and Rhys Hoskins all had tough days at the plate after the first action.

Looking Ahead

Despite the heartbreaking 6-5 loss, there's plenty to be optimistic about. The Brewers showed they can explode for big innings early on, and if we can tighten up our relief pitching and capitalize on scoring chances, we'll be in a great position moving forward. Let’s regroup and get ready for the next game. Go Brewers! 🍺⚾
