A Rough Day at Target Field

It was a tough day for us Twins fans as we faced off against the Baltimore Orioles. We started off strong, but in the end, the Orioles managed to secure a 6-2 win. Let's break down the game inning by inning and see where things went awry.

Early Spark

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, we saw some fireworks from Carlos Santana who launched a homer to right center, giving us an early lead! ⚾🔥 Shortly after, DaShawn Keirsey Jr. followed suit in the 3rd inning with a solo homer of his own to right. It was heartening to see our boys putting points on the board! 🎉

Pitching Dominance Early On

Our pitchers did a fantastic job early on, with three quick outs in both the top of the 1st and 2nd innings. Ober was dealing and kept the Orioles at bay. However, it all started to crumble in the 5th inning.

Disastrous 5th Inning

Everything changed in the 5th when a three-run homer from McCann put the Orioles ahead 3-2. A crucial error by Manuel Margot in right field set up the runners, and McCann did the rest. 😔 The situation only worsened in the 7th when the Orioles added two more runs thanks to some glaring fielding issues and pitching substitutions that didn't go our way.

A Final Blow

A 414-foot homer by Kjerstad in the 8th inning pushed the score to 6-2, dampening our spirits further. Despite our efforts, with singles here and there from Austin Martin and Margot, we just couldn't rally any more runs.

Missed Opportunities

We had several opportunities to get back into the game. Runners were left stranded, and double plays cut short our hopes. Royce Lewis’s double play in the 6th inning and Christian Vázquez's multiple strikeouts were particularly hard to swallow.

Summary

Today's game showed some flashes of brilliance, but inconsistent play and missed opportunities cost us dearly. Big shoutout to Carlos Santana and DaShawn Keirsey Jr. for their homers, but we've got some tightening up to do, especially in the field.

Let's keep our heads up, Twins Nation! Tomorrow is another day, and we'll come back stronger! 💪🏼⚾
