A Strong Start
The Detroit Tigers took the field against the Cleveland Guardians with high hopes of clinching another win. The action-packed game opened with Zach McKinstry smacking a ground-rule double in the 3rd inning. This ignited a spark when Wenceel Perez followed up with a double to right, allowing McKinstry to score. We took an early lead at 1-0, leaving us Tigers fans feeling optimistic.
Mid-Game Action
Our boy Riley Greene added to the score with a solo homer in the 6th inning, sending it 367 feet to right field. That certainly sent a cheer through the fan base as we extended our lead to 2-0! However, ball games can turn quickly. The Guardians came back strong in the bottom of the 6th, capitalizing on some key plays to score three runs and take the lead at 3-2.
Late-Inning Letdown
The Guardians weren't done just yet, tacking on two more runs in the 7th inning to further their dominance to 5-2. Our Tigers lineup struggled to rally and create scoring opportunities in the last innings. Despite some fight from Kerry Carpenter with a single in the 8th, it wasn't enough to turn the tide. Ultimately, the Tigers stayed scoreless in the final innings, and the Guardians held their ground to finish the game 5-2.
It was a tough night for our Tigers, but we will keep our heads up and look forward to the next face-off with renewed energy and determination. Let's go, Tigers!
