Tough Game in Pittsburgh: Brewers vs. Pirates Recap
Oof, that wasn't the outcome we were hoping for, fellow Pirates fans. The Milwaukee Brewers came into PNC Park and stifled our Buccos with a final score of 10-2. Let's break down the game, play-by-play.Rough Start for the Buccos
The game started pretty grim for us as the Brewers quickly piled on four runs in the top of the 1st inning. Despite a valiant effort, our defense just couldn't keep the Brewers at bay. Jake Bauers delivered a crushing double to right, quickly putting Milwaukee in the lead. Unfortunately, a couple of walks and singles gave the Brewers a hefty head start with a 4-0 lead by the end of the 1st inning.Fighting Back, One Run at a Time
Though the deficit was tough, we saw some glimmers of hope. In the bottom of the 2nd, Andrew McCutchen doubled to center and was followed by a single from Liover Peguero bringing McCutchen home and putting the Pirates on the board. A true Pirate hustle! As the innings rolled on, however, the Brewers extended their lead by adding another five runs over the next couple of innings, putting the score at a difficult 9-1.Late-Inning Push
In the bottom of the 8th, the Pirates showed some resilience with Cam Devanney smashing a double to left field, giving Ji Hwan Bae a chance to cross home plate and make it 10-2. Unfortunately, despite our bats trying to rally back, the Brewers’ defense was tight, and we were unable to close the gap further.Final Thoughts
It's never easy to watch our beloved Pirates fall short, but let’s tip our hats to some of our guys who kept fighting. Despite the loss, Andrew McCutchen and Liover Peguero made strong contributions. We’ll dust ourselves off and look toward the next challenge. Let's go, Bucs!
