Tough Loss in St. Louis
It was a disappointing night for the Brewers as they faced off against the Cardinals in St. Louis. With hopes high, the game began on a level playing field, but unfortunately, the magic just wasn't there tonight. The game ended with a final score of 5-1 in favor of the Cardinals, marking a tough loss for our Brewers.
Slow Start Out of the Gate
The game started with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. Jackson Chourio, Isaac Collins, and Andrew Vaughn were up first but couldn’t get the ball rolling, with two strikeouts and a flyout. Moving into the 2nd inning, Andruw Monasterio managed to break through with a single and subsequently stole second base, but was left stranded after Danny Jansen's liner to second base. The Cardinals also struggled to find runs early, giving us hope for a turnaround.Cardinals Surge Ahead
Things started to unravel in the 3rd inning when Ivan Herrera slammed a home run to notch two runs for the Cardinals. The 4th inning was particularly painful, with a double by José Fermín bringing home two more Cardinals’ runners. The Brewers put up a fight, with Joey Ortiz hitting a triple in the 5th, allowing Chourio to bring him home on a sacrifice fly. But despite this brief rally, we couldn't close the gap on the scoreboard. ❤
Brewers Left Stranded
Though Christian Yelich added some late-game spark by getting in as the designated hitter, the Brewers couldn’t seem to catch a break. The 6th inning gave us more excitement with Monasterio reaching base with an infield single, but Jansen ended the inning with a groundout. More players reached base in the 8th and 9th, like Brice Turang and Jake Bauers, who came in as pinch hitters, but ultimately it was not enough to rally back against the Cardinals' lead.Though the game didn't go our way, it's just one game in the season, and there's always another opportunity around the corner. Keep your heads up, Brewers fans! We'll bounce back stronger!
