Mets Open Strong

What a start for our beloved New York Mets! 🎉 The boys were off to a flying start in the first inning. Francisco Lindor worked his way to a walk and then Pete Alonso smacked a double, pushing Lindor to third. Mark Vientos brought Lindor home with a foul out, and Brandon Nimmo chipped in with a single, scoring Alonso. 2-0 right out the gate! 🚀

Power Hitting On Display

The third inning was lit thanks to Francisco Lindor! He crushed a solo home run to left, extending our lead to 3-0. And then came the fourth inning, where Brett Baty hit a monumental 371-foot homer that scored Nimmo and Luis Torrens. By the end of the fourth, we had a commanding 6-0 lead. The Mets bats were on fire! 🔥

Holding Off the Cubs' Rally

Although the Cubs tried to claw their way back into the game, hitting homers in the 4th and 5th innings, they couldn't handle our explosive offense. Seiya Suzuki's two homers did add a scare, but thanks to clutch plays and Tyler Rogers shutting down the 8th and Edwin Díaz efficiently closing it in the 9th, we held them off, 8-5! 🥳

Key Performances and Final Thoughts

Brandon Nimmo was crucial with three hits, Brett Baty had that statement homer, and Tyrone Taylor contributed a vital double in the 6th that scored two more runs for us! The Mets pitching was a bit wobbly in the middle but stood strong when it mattered most. Let's celebrate this win and keep the momentum going, Mets fans! 💙🧡 #LGM
