A Tough Extra Inning Loss to the Yankees

What a heartbreaker of a game for us Orioles fans 😔. After rallying with some promising moments, we fell just short against the Yankees in extra innings with a final score of 7-1. The game remained tight until everything unraveled in the 10th inning.

Early Innings: Tight Defense and Missing Bats

The first few innings passed without any scores from either team. Our pitching staff did a wonderful job keeping the Yankees' bats at bay, striking out big hitters like Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger 💪. However, the Yankees seemed to have the same strategy for our line-up, as we couldn’t capitalize early despite Jeremiah Jackson getting a solid double in the 2nd inning.

Mid Game: A Glimpse of Hope

The tension broke in the 5th inning, when our very own Samuel Basallo smashed a soaring home run to right field, giving us a 1-0 lead 🎉! Spirits were high, and we managed to retain that lead until the 6th inning.

A Struggle in Extra Innings

After some strategic pitching swaps and defending, the Yankees eventually tied the game up in the 6th inning. A resilient battle kept us locked at 1-1 until the 10th inning, where things took a turn. The Yankees erupted with Ben Rice delivering a crushing home run with bases loaded, quickly followed by Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s solo homer, spiraling the score to an unassailable lead.

Final Thoughts

Though it’s a tough pill to swallow, the Orioles have shown flashes of brilliance, and there’s reason to be hopeful for the future 🌟. While we couldn’t seal the win against the Yankees today, our young talents like Jackson Holliday and Colton Cowser give us reasons to keep our heads up. On to the next game, Birdland! We've got this! 🙌🧡
